Annual General Meeting (AGM)
Annual General Meeting (AGM)
A
mandatory yearly meeting of shareholders, allowing stakeholders to remain
informed and involved with company decisions and workings.
This
yearly meeting is the single event whereby shareholders are able to gather and
ask the board of directors questions pertaining to corporate health and
strategy. Proper notice must be given to shareholders with regards to meeting
times and agenda.
Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM)
-A
meeting other than the annual general meeting between a company's shareholders,
executives and any other members. An EGM is usually called on short notice and
deals with a matter of urgency.
In most cases, the only time shareholders and executives meet is during the annual general meeting, which is usually at a set time. However, certain events may require shareholders to come together to solve a specific problem, such as the removal of an executive.
